SA's Just Jinjer signs with US record label

Wednesday, 20 August 2008

South Africa's biggest selling rock band Just Jinjer is set to make inroads in the United States music industry having recently signed with Tennessee-based Curb Records, a rock, country and pop record label.

SA Good News The Joburg rockers who won the hearts of South African fans with their 1996 debut album All Comes Round, set sail for the US in 2004 to make it in the world's foremost rock market.

"We decided that if we were going to dedicate this time of our lives to our music, we might as well do it where the risk is highest and the reward is greatest," said lead vocalist Art Matthews in a 2007 interview with News24.

The band is comprised of Art Matthews, Brent Harris, Denholm Harding and newest member Sandy Chila.

Over the past 12 years Just Jinjer has toured extensively in South Africa and abroad, earning themselves a firm reputation for their amazing live act. The band has shared stages with the likes of U2, Counting Crows, Toto, Hootie and the Blowfish, Crash Test Dummies and Skunk Anansie.

Just Jinjer has released seven albums including their 2006 self-titled album which helped boost their popularity among US audiences.

Curb Records' John Butler says, "The freshness of this band and the innovative quality of their music makes them appealing to many genres, and this will be an exciting project for the label."

According to Curb Records, Just Jinjer are currently writing new material and gearing up for an extensive US tour to coincide with their Curb debut album scheduled for release in early 2009.

Other artists currently on the Curb Record label include top selling country artists Tim McGraw and Leanne Rimes.
