About the cartoonist
Matthew Ackermann grew up in the quiet town of Somerset West, in the Western Cape. He attended Bishops high school and went on to study Journalism and Philosophy at Rhodes University. He has been drawing cartoons for as long as he can remember, and it was at Rhodes that he began publishing them in student publications and community newspapers. He has worked previously as a Game Ranger in Namibia and an English teacher in Thailand. He is currently working full time as a freelance cartoonist, illustrator and journalist.
