"Such a sentence should send a strong message to all those who may be involved in the incidents of rape and sexual assault that there are severe consequences for inflicting pain on women," the ministry said in a statement.
Randitsheni was sentenced to 16 life sentences plus 220 years imprisonment for a series of murders, rapes and kidnappings he committed between 2004 and 2008.
He was convicted on 10 counts of murder, 17 counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and 18 counts of kidnapping.
Randitsheni could not be considered for parole for the next 35 years, by that time he would be 80-years-old.
The ministry said it was "encouraged" by the heavy sentence, adding that the criminal justice system was responding to the challenges of crime in the country.
It thanked the investigating and prosecution teams in the Randitsheni case for their hard work which led to his arrest and conviction on all charges.
