A 14-man house robbery syndicate has been nabbed following an intense
investigation by Western Cape police, spokesman Captain Fredrick van
Wyk said on Friday.
The 14 suspects - all Namibian nationals - were arrested in different areas in the Western Cape between Tuesday and Friday, and stolen items to the value of R2 million were also seized.
Police were investigating a spate of robberies in the Constantia and Tokai suburbs when mountain security made a breakthrough by tracking the spoor of three house robbery suspects through a dense forest.
Van Wyk said this led to a pre-dawn crackdown and the arrests.
The suspects were aged between 22 and 32, with some speaking fluent Afrikaans.
Police said some of the Namibian nationals also had military backgrounds and connections with the commercial fishing fleet in Hout Bay.
The suspects are due to appear at the Wynberg Magistrates' Court on Monday.
