Doornkop Needy Childrens Centre

Doornkop Needy Children’s Centre is the social responsibility project that has been adopted by South Africa: The Good News.

The Doornkop Needy Children’s Centre (DNCC) was started in August 2002 by two concerned mothers who were aware of the fact that there are many children - some abused, some abandoned but most just plain poor - that needed some sort of crèche facility and care. They approached the community, secured permission to use a church gathering point and now look after 160 children. It is situated in Snakepark, part of Doornkop, a poverty-stricken area of Soweto.

The aim of the DNCC is to provide shelter, clothing, education and love to those orphans and destitute children from the age of 0 – 5 years.

CEO of South Africa: The Good News Steuart Pennington “adopted” this crèche in May 2005 and has since partnered with WesBank, Digipos and Rotary (Randburg Chapter).

On the 11th of December, we threw a Christmas party for the children of the Doornkop Needy Children's Centre at the Moroka Community Centre in Soweto.
