The Nelson Mandela Foundation has announced that it will launch a book in honour of Madiba's 90th birthday, featuring rare archival material. Funds raised from the '90th Birthday Book' will be used to build  and run a public Centre for Memory and Dialogue.

The official and authorised Nelson Mandela 90th birthday book will include material reflecting Mandela's personal and political life story. Much of the material was entrusted to the Foundation by Mandela himself, following his retirement from the world stage in 2004.

In the early 1960s, the Liliesleaf Farm in Rivonia, Johannesburg was the centre of ANC military operations. Today, in a transformed political environment, the farm has reopened as a museum to commemorate the liberation struggle for current and future generations.

It was on this 28 acre farm in July 1963 that key leaders of the liberation struggle were arrested following a raid by the Security Police.
