South Africa has ranked second in a list of Top Ten World Travel Destinations by one of the United States’ most popular online travel guides.

iExplore.com, a guide to adventure and experiential travel, determines the best travel hot spots through vacation purchases made by its online visitors in 2007.

Egypt held on to its top position for the third year running while China followed South Africa in third place.

South Africa moved up from 3rd position when compared to last year’s list.

The devaluation of the U.S. dollar is also said to have impacted on the declining demand for tours to countries such as France, Italy and other parts of Europe
