Beauty gives back
In a densely populated township of Ivory Park, found in the east of Johannesburg in the Gauteng province of South Africa, three friends have taken a twist on fundraising.
Lehlogonolo Dibakoane 25 left, Kgabo semenya 26 center and Thapelo Semenya 24 right from Tswelelane development, which is a none profitable organization that is based in Ivory Park, which aims at changing the lives of the community members, specially the vulnerable and underprivileged like the disabled, Orphans and abused children.
One thing every NPO can agree on is that it is difficult to find sponsors and to raise funds. So what the Three did is to align their need for funds with the need of the general youth of Ivory Park which is entertainment, this saw the birth of the annual Miss Fantasy pageant.
Every year Tswelelane development hosts a fundraising beauty pageant at Ivory Park Community hall that is aimed at fundraising money to help buy school uniforms and shoes for the orphans and vulnerable children in the community. Miss Fantasy is hosted during the period of February annually and it attracts a lot of people from the community and this creates a good platform for The Developments members to engage with the community and to educate teens about the importance of charity work.
Kgabo said “We understand that it’s not easy to encourage people to get involved in charity work however we know that with events like Miss Fantasy where people come to have fun, it becomes easy for us to educate them about charity work and on getting involved.
The 3rd annual Miss fantasy will be taking place on the 25th February at Ivory Park community hall
