The countdown to the finals of Miss Soweto 2018, sponsored by White Star Super Maize Meal, is gaining momentum. After receiving a record-breaking number of entries, followed by a stringent process of auditioning and preparation, the number of hopefuls in the Miss Soweto 2018 pageant has now been whittled down to the top 20.
The semi-finals took place on Saturday, 6 October 2018 at Maponya Mall in Soweto, where 40 contestants gracefully took to the stage to meet the judges. Each participant was given the opportunity to introduce herself, answer a question from the judges and impress them with beauty, intellect and overall stage presence.
Runner-up of Miss Soweto 2009 and current TV and radio presenter, Refiloe Motsei, did a great job hosting the event – encouraging ladies to deliver their A-game.
The 20 women selected as finalists (listed below) will compete for the Miss Soweto 2018 crown at the glitzy finale on Saturday, 1 December 2018 at the Soweto Theatre in Jabulani.

In preparation for, what is set to be life-changing experience for all the contestants, the top 20 finalists will receive life coaching and guidance from various industry specialists such as health practitioners, fashion and beauty experts as well as personalities from the entertainment sector. They will go through a series of workshops and coaching classes, which will cover topics such as positive body language, fashion and beauty, public speaking, health and wellness training, interview skills and voice modulation.

As Miss Soweto 2018 main sponsor, White Star offers the winner of a cash prize of R100, 000 and will be appointed her as its brand ambassador. Other partners supporting this year’s pageant include Clinix Health Group, Even & Lovely and Educor. In total, the winner of Miss Soweto 2018 will take home prizes worth over R250, 000.
By just reaching the finals, cash prizes and rigorous training allows the contestants to gain new skills that will empower them, not only for the duration of the competition, but for the future.
