Stokvel Cooking Challenge

    SUPPORT JHB’S STAR STOKVEL CHEF SEMI-FINALISTS!

 

Stokvel groups around the country were invited to enter the Stokvel Cooking Challenge 2017, sponsored by White Star Super Maize Meal and Royco®, to show off their creative culinary skills and win a share of the R40 000 cash prize. Stokvels responded overwhelmingly to the call, submitting their motivation as to why they should be considered to take part in the cook-off. Now, the top three in four regions have been selected to take part in the semi-finals.

The Gauteng semi-finals kicked-off at the wanderers club. The Ithuseng Ladies Club Stokvel, were crowned as the winners as they showcased their culinary skills for the star judges – award winning actress and White Star celebrity judge Mapaseka Koetle and MasterChef SA 2014 runner-up, Siphokazi Mdlankomo.

“We enjoyed seeing and tasting all the delicious dishes that the Stokvels created,” says Royco® Senior Brand Manager, Khosi Snondo.”

The public was invited to come and show their support at the semi-finals as the Stokvels competed to represent their region in the finals, taking place on the 26 August 2017 in Pretoria. The Ithuseng Ladies Club Stokvel walked away victorious and they will be representing Gauteng at the finals.

There was a variety of entertainment in Wanderers club with Mapaseka Koetle as an MC and loads of winning opportunities for the public visitors as they stood a chance to win lucky draws throughout the day.
